Join the Emergency Nurses Week Celebration

DES PLAINES, Ill. (Oct. 9, 2017) – This year, the Emergency Nurses Association continues to recognize the resourceful and masterful work of emergency nurses with a week-long celebration. Emergency Nurses Week is Oct. 8-14 and Emergency Nurses Day is Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Since 1989, ENA has recognized the second Wednesday in October as Emergency Nurses Day, honoring emergency nurses for their commitment to patient care. Starting in 2001, ENA expanded the celebration to devote an entire week to honoring emergency nurses, because one day is simply not enough to recognize all their contributions.

“With the recent hurricanes and deadly shooting in Las Vegas, recognizing emergency nurses and their unwavering commitment to emergency care is especially timely,” said ENA President Karen Wiley, MSN, RN, CEN. “This week will be a celebration of their courageous work and dedication.”

ENA encourages supporting emergency nursing throughout the week on social media using #ENWeek. The Emergency Nurses Week 2017 Planning Guide provides ideas and information on additional ways to celebrate each day of the week.

The Emergency Nurses Association is the premier professional nursing association dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing through advocacy, education, research, innovation, and leadership. Founded in 1970, ENA has proven to be an indispensable resource to the global emergency nursing community. With 50,000 members worldwide, ENA advocates for patient safety, develops industry-leading practice standards and guidelines and guides emergency health care public policy. ENA members have expertise in triage, patient care, disaster preparedness, and all aspects of emergency care. Additional information is available at www.ena.org.
